According to the 2010 Chinese Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines: Antiviral treatment for recurrent genital herpes should be started within 24 hours of the onset of prodromal symptoms or skin lesions. Acyclovir 200 mg, orally, 5 times a day, for 5 days: or acyclovir 400 mg, orally, 3 times a day, for 5 days, or valacyclovir 500 mg, orally, 2 times a day, for 5 days. For patients with frequent recurrences (6 times or more per year), oral acyclovir 400 mg, 2 times a day, or valacyclovir 500 mg, once a day, requires long-term administration, and the course of treatment is generally 4 months to 1 year.
