Comparing STI testing prices in Japan: check what is included

Use a practical checklist for self-pay fees, clinic visit charges, sample sites and public testing options.

Updated

Compare like for like

A single-test price can cover one infection at one body site. Panels can include different infections or multiple sites. Compare equivalent samples, methods and turnaround times. Ask whether the quoted amount includes tax, the appointment, specimen collection, results, a written certificate and any confirmatory test or follow-up visit.

Check how payment works

A clinic can explain whether Japanese health insurance applies to your visit. Ask about self-pay fees for routine screening and how notices or results are delivered. Public health centres generally provide free anonymous HIV testing, with other tests and appointment rules varying locally. Posted fees are reference prices. Confirm the total directly before arranging a visit.
