Among the common sexually transmitted diseases, genital warts are the most difficult to treat, and the incidence of genital warts has increased rapidly in recent years.
Genital warts are caused by papillomavirus, which grows and reproduces easily in warm and humid environment, so the external genitalia is the most suitable part. A few people may be infected by contacting daily necessities contaminated by virus particles, such as underwear, bathtub, bath towel, etc. The incubation period is 2 weeks to 8 months. The most common parts of women are vaginal opening, perineum, perianal area, labia minora, labia majora, clitoris, and also extend to vagina, cervix, urethra, anal mucosa and lower rectum.
The early symptoms of genital warts are scattered small, soft, light red wart-like papules with pointed tops, which gradually increase in size and grow into nipple-like or cauliflower-like shapes, white, light red or dirty gray, with a moist surface, accompanied by itching and pressure. Warts are easy to rupture after scratching due to itching, and there may be exudation and bleeding. If secondary infection occurs, pus will overflow with a foul odor and pain. If the cervix is involved, there will be increased blood bands and bleeding after sexual intercourse; if the anus and rectum are affected, it will cause pain. If the woman is pregnant, due to the influence of placental hormones, the warts will proliferate more rapidly and may merge into a cockscomb-like shape or even a large mass.
The so-called genital warts are the most difficult to treat, which does not mean that there is no cure. Rather, lesions in different parts of the body require different methods to be treated effectively.
Genital warts are not only difficult to treat, but also closely related to genital cancer. According to statistics, 5-10% of cervical warts and 5% of vulvar and perianal warts can develop into cancer after a long time; 5% of female vulvar cancer develops on the basis of genital warts. In addition, there is also the problem of mother-to-child transmission.
In recent years, the incidence of genital warts in my country has been increasing, so we should take strict precautions.
